MASSAGE:
- Firm pressure on abdomen in clockwise direction (helps move food through the colon to the large intestine).
- I Love U technique: With baby laying backside down on your legs/feet, use hands to draw and “I” on the right side (baby’s left side), down baby’s chest and abdomen, then an upside-down “L” (starting on baby’s left and moving across), and an upside-down “U.”
- Knees to chest: Position baby’s knees to chest and gently straighten legs to help alleviate gas or pressure.
Lecture Reminder
Be mindful about massage timing. Avoid massages immediately following feedings, as it could induce vomiting.
Since massage encourages proper digestion, it’s a good idea to keep diapers on!
